“Me like banging and jumping blocks.”

Turtle Shape Sorter

A preschool toy by Learning Curve Toys for 18 months and up.

The shape sorter category is very popular with many competitors.  This new concept provided a surprise ending after engaging the shape sorting play pattern.  A child placed the shapes in their correct holes. Tapping the top of the turtle’s head would cause all the blocks to pop out of the shell for a surprise payoff. Testing revealed that children showed repeated surprise every time they hit the turtle’s head down and laughed when the shapes scattered around the floor. Experimenting with this action motivated children to engage in more shape sorting. Children improved hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, and experienced cause and effect.
