“I learned how to build a rocket with a cardboard tube and rubber bands!”

PBS Kids, “Miss Rosa and Hooper” show

An educational program featured on PBS Kids for young children.

“Miss Rosa” taught short educational lessons tied-in to PBS Kids programs. Miss Rosa and her assistant “Hooper,” a computer-animated guinea pig, engaged a group of children to engage viewers with calls to sing, dance, and guess answers to questions.

Created the production design to support the writer’s educational show concept which was  to take place in a fantasy schoolhouse. Collaborating with all stakeholders, I developed a modular design that could be set up and taken down at multiple stages over several years and drive engagement to the PBS Kids website.

Prepared construction drawings, hired set builders, scenic painters, and prop makers to build the 75′-0″ x 25′-0 set with a budget of $200,000. I managed the fabrication and delivered the set $6.5k under budget. I supervised set dressers and prop makers during video taping working with the director’ needs. Managed set removal, storage and delivery logistics to stages in NJ, NY and MD.
