Virtual Public Art
“P•Art” was an augmented realty project developed with a team at the Media Lab Hacking Arts conference and placed in the final top ten out of 25 teams.
Mission Statement
Empower people around the world to create virtual art in any location, surface or space free from any physical limitations using Augmented Reality and geo-tagging.
Use case
Users can virtually showcase their artwork in any location, even those typically inaccessible to them. By uploading original pieces to the app, creators can geotag their work, enabling a much larger audience to discover it as they navigate through geotagged areas using their smartphones. Additionally, users can explore a map of artwork that is geo-tagged worldwide from any comfortable location. Users can engage with artists by leaving comments, giving thumbs up, or sharing the artwork with their social networks.
Persona
Andrew, a young artist without any gallery representation is struggling to get his work noticed by the general public. He needs a public outlet that will draw attention to his artwork and expand his audience. The P•Art app could give Andrew a way to get more exposure for his work and draw traffic to his website, blog or promote his work at a show or online gallery.
