Refugee Cultural Reorientation
A project created with a team at the MIT Reality Virtually hackathon, Winner of the Best WebVR app prize.
Cultoure is a VR experience facilitated by an NGO in refugee camps to enable families with children who are scheduled emigrate to interact with a family in their destination country. A two-way virtual introduction would foster a social connection while both families explore each other’s cultural environment. A VR headset would allow parents and children to enter an immersive view where they can experience a tour of typical environments in each other’s country.
This virtual tour may help families feel more comfortable and prepared when they arrive in their new host country. The program will also increase cultural understanding and acceptance in the host population.
